This program is specifically
intended for individuals from countries and regions with lower immigration rates to the
U.S.A. under other programs.
Individuals born in one of the following countries are, in most
cases, not eligible to receive immigrant visas under this program: Canada, China
(except Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan), Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El
Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, the
United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
Individuals born in any other country of the world are eligible.
Please note exception to the above rule: If you were born in one of
the countries listed here but one of your parents was born in a country not listed here,
you are eligible. Also, if your spouse (wife or husband) was born in a country not
listed here, and you both wish to apply under this program and enter the U.S.A. together,
you are eligible.
In addition, applicants must have either a high school education or
its equivalent (12 years of elementary and secondary education), or within the past five
years have two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years
of training or experience.
You do not need to meet any other criteria to be considered for
permanent residence in the U.S.A. under this program.
Each applicant must list his or her spouse (wife or
husband) and any unmarried children under age 21 in the application. If the applicant is
successful in this program, all of these persons may receive their U.S. immigrant visas at
the same time.
